Stairway to heaven?

Anyone coming to Sydney should do the walk from Coogee to Bondi. 6 kms of amazing coastline wiews, beautiful beaches, a cemetery, million dollar houses, and these stairs.

Love to hate you

Australia and New Zealand enjoy a love-hate relationship and here it is at its peak:

Last night in Sydney the Wallabies (Australia) got the better out of the All Blacks (New Zealand) - 34 to 19.

Merry Christmas!

Martin Place, Sydney

Before you ask.. yes I AM serious. In Australia some people celebrate Christmas in July. It can be pretty hot on Dec 25 on these shores, not quite many people's idea of Xmas, ie: winter, cold and snow. So, how about a Xmas when it is winter Down Under? In Sydney, it is indeed cold, in the Blue Mountains you might even get a bit of snow. They don’t go as far as putting out all the decorations around town though .. the tree is from last December.

Stuck in the sand

Maheno Shipwreck, Fraser Island, Queensland

The Maheno (which means 'island' in Maori) was used as a hospital ship during WW1, then used by a shipping company as a liner between Sydney and New Zealand and later sold to a Japanese shipping company. On its voyage to a wrecking yard in Japan in 1935 it was hit by a cyclone off the coast and was then washed ashore. It is now one of the main attractions of Fraser Island.

1-2-3

The Three Sisters, Blue Mountains, New South Wales

The sisters, Meenhi, Wimlah and Gunnedoo, are said to have been turned into stone to protect them from three brothers they had fallen in love with but the tribal law forbade their union. The witchdoctor died before reversing the spell.

It's oh so still

Henty River, Tasmania

I travelled around Tasmania in Feb 2007, absolutely loved the place and dying to go back. This is one my favourite shots.. not even one ripple on the river. Simply breathtaking.
